Coolights, Glowsticks, Snaplights, Chemlights, Cyalumes...

Once again, we're out to de-bunk some common misconceptions and enlighten you (see what we did there?)

I think that we can all agree that being able to see is pretty important. At Forces Tactical, we have a variety of items that can ensure that when you need light to navigate, treat a casualty, mark a location etc. you get it.

This article is all about GLOWSTICKS. We only stock tried and tested kit and the only NATO approved chemical light is the ChemLight (not SnapLight) made by Cyalume. Other versions are available and are often mistakenly called "Cyalumes" (a little bit like calling any old vacuum cleaner a "Hoover")

The video below (from Cyalume) explains more:

"Proper" military grade ChemLights guarantee the following:

  • 360 degree illumination per stick
  • Guaranteed 4 year shelf life (no maintenance necessary)
  • Non-toxic, non-flammable and waterproof
  • Individually foil packed for easy, safe storage
  • Buoyant
  • Visible up to one nautical mile away (approx. 1.6 km).
  • Meets DLA and NAMSA military specifications

Whilst a military grade ChemLight may cost more than a far-east clone, it will guarantee battery free, extended, reliable illumination when you really need it!
